Our Team

Melany Martin is a recent UCLA graduate with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Global Health. She has specialized coursework in health and science to better navigate legal cases intersecting with public health. Melany has experience managing health data and community engagement through her work with UCLA Health and the Los Angeles Department of Public Health, including leading bilingual sessions in Spanish and English. Passionate about legal research and advocacy, Melany is eager to contribute her skills toward supporting clients and advancing justice.

Why did you join the LA Fire Justice team?

I joined the LA Fire Justice team because I am very passionate about helping the communities that surround me and come from a public health background. Being able to be a part of a team that seeks justice for communities that were harmed is meaningful as it is a step towards healing communities.

What is your favorite thing to do in LA?

My favorite thing to do in LA is try new sushi spots with my friends. I also like to try new places including the Funko Hollywood store, the Love Museum, and Griffith Observatory. I usually find something new to do with friends and family every month to keep exploring hidden gems around the city.
