I began my career at Starbucks, working on and off for ten years while traveling across the country. I transitioned into financial services, supporting customers at a startup tech-finance company and later working in auto-loan collections. My path then shifted toward nonprofit work, where I built a strong foundation in case management serving LGBTQ+ communities, BIPOC individuals, people experiencing homelessness, gang-impacted youth, foster and TAY youth, and survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence. Outside of work, I actively volunteer with LGBTQ+ nonprofit organizations, continuing my commitment to community support and advocacy.
Why did you join the LA Fire Justice team?
I joined the LA Fire Justice Team to deepen my case management experience and because the mission struck a personal chord. As someone who has lived in the San Gabriel Valley my entire life, I felt compelled to support families and communities impacted by the fire with empathy, compassion, and a sense of restored hope. The opportunity felt almost serendipitous—a recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn during my job search, and the role sounded almost too good to be true. After interviewing with Emily and hearing the passion behind the team’s work, it felt like everything aligned instantly.
What is your favorite thing to do in LA?
My favorite thing to do in LA is get lost. Even after living here my entire life, there’s always something new to explore in the city and the surrounding areas. The variety and diversity here make LA one of the most unique and beautiful places in the country. I love discovering hole-in-the-wall and family-owned restaurants, and I enjoy local events like farmers markets, festivals, and especially the local gaming scene.
